Meet the 6th Ward’s Newest Intern!!

Hello everyone! My name is Sarah Hunt, and I am thrilled to be working for the 6thward as an Intern for Alderwoman Triplett. As a downtown resident, I am very excited to take part in the positive things that are happening in my own neighborhood. I spent my childhood nearby in Saint Peters, Missouri and completed my secondary education at Fort Zumwalt South High School. In 2007, I graduated from Lindenwood University with a Bachelor’s degree in both Spanish and Non-profit Administration. I am currently a law student at the Saint Louis University School of Law and will graduate in May of 2011.

While I grew up in the suburbs, I have quickly realized city living suits me far better. The Saint Louis atmosphere is one of a kind and I am proud to say I am now a City resident. During my time interning for the Board of Alderman, I hope to witness first hand what it takes to keep a City like ours functioning as well as contribute in any way I can to help make Saint Louis the best in can be.

I got my start in politics through an internship program. At that time, I was a junior in college participating in a summer internship program in Washington, D.C. through the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.

It was there that I worked for Congressman William Lacy Clay and did everything from sorting spoons to attending congressional briefings. It was the best experience of my life, and I established many long standing friendships and a strong professional network resulting in my first “out of college” job in the Capitol Hill office of former Minority Leader, Richard Gephardt.

I value interns with their energy, enthusiasm and willingness to do whatever needs to be done. The 6th Ward has been blessed to have two interns working this past semester. Jennifer Lee, a law student at St. Louis University, and Jerin Van Wyk an undergraduate student at Harris Stowe State University. Internships are traditionally non paid positions at the St. Louis Board of Aldermen and are available each semester and during the summer for college credit.

College students interested in obtaining a memorable and educational experience should contact my office and request an internship application.
