> (ST. LOUIS) – Today, Alderman Kacie Starr Triplett (6th Ward) obtained
> over $137,000 for capital improvements at Lucas Park. The money will
> fund much-needed projects to enhance the park and restore its original
> beauty.
>
> “Lucas Park is a landmark and attraction for every city resident,”
> Triplett said. “For too long, the park has been stained by decline
> and disrepair. These projects will help restore the square to its
> original splendor and fulfill its mission as a public promenade for
> the inhabitants of the Saint Louis.”
>
> The city of Saint Louis purchased the land for Lucas Park from James
> H. Lucas in 1857 to establish a permanent memorial to his father, the
> Honorable John B. C. Lucas. Licensed to a private corporation for a
> period of 50 years, the ground was restored to use as a park in 1907.
>
> Triplett has represented the diverse 6th Ward, which includes Lucas
> park, on the St. Louis Board of Aldermen since April 2007 and
> currently serves as the youngest elected official in the City.
