(Bill Siedhoff, Rev. Wilder & Ald. Triplett)
This past weekend I visited Centenary Church for their first annual Walking Home event in recognition of the City’s Homeless population. The charismatic Rev. Wilder explained the concept behind the Walking Home event. As children, you played outside and made friends with the other kids in your neighborhood. As dusk settled, at the end of the play date, you all walked home. The Walking Home event was to demonstrate that the homeless population are indeed our “friends” and we will not stop walking, until everyone has a home. The mile walk began at Centenary church downtown where we passed various homeless provider agencies and resting stops for the City’s homeless. There was a great crowd gathered for this to be Centenary’s first annual event.
